LED stage content for the annual sports awards

Project overview

Stage graphics and animation for the NSJF Pulsar Sports Award are shown here through the 2081 and 2082 editions. The 2081 project holds the opening logo reveal, ten award-title animations, eleven category videos and artwork for six LED zones. The 2082 content runs on a wide LED canvas: a central screen with a partner-logo strip below it, and mosaic panels on each side.

2081 opening 2082 LED content

2081 edition

From the mountain to the logo

The 2081 opening runs across a wide 4780 × 1388 px canvas. It begins on a painted Himalayan peak, pulls back to a lake with a rowing boat, then the NSJF Pulsar Sports Award 2081 logo appears between two trophies in a burst of light and particles. The film runs 32 seconds with sound.

2082 edition

Asian game inspired mosaic on the LED canvas

The 2082 identity is an Asian game inspired mosaic of sport pictograms and Nepali motifs in purple, red, orange and green: a mountain, a stupa, a sun and concentric target arcs. On the LED canvas the pictogram tiles change while the centre screen holds the award logo over magenta light streaks, with the partner logos in the strip below.

The concept board

The visual direction began with a concept board, “Option 1, Asian Mosaic”: the logo lockup, a stage view, nominee and winner frames, a partner frame, the sport icon set, the background pattern and the colour palette. The board is a concept. The LED content above is the working output.

1 · LED zones

The 2081 project keeps a separate artwork file for each LED zone: centre top and bottom, left top and bottom, and right top and bottom. I designed each zone to its screen shape before bringing it into the compositions.

2 · Compositing and pre-renders

I built the compositions in After Effects with the 3D logo, lighting, glows and particles. Heavy elements are pre-rendered: ten award-title animations, a trophy glow loop, background loops with light leaks, and a reflection map.

3 · Category videos

The project holds eleven category videos: Male Player of the Year, Female Player of the Year, Youth Player of the Year, Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Para Athlete Honor, Trailblazer of the Year, Special Award, People's Choice, Asian Sports Journalist of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
